Adutha Veettu Penn English The Girl Next Door is a 1960 Indian Tamil comedy film, directed by Vedantam Raghavaiah. The film stars Anjali Devi, T. R. Ramachandran and K. A. Thangavelu in the lead. The plot is based on the short story Pasher Bari by Arun Chowdhury. The film was a remake of 1953 Telugu film Pakkinti Ammayi. Successive remakes of the film include Padosan 1969, Hindi, Pakkinti Ammayi 1981, Telugu and Pakkadmane Hudugi Kannada.

The credit titles done in cartoon style with much humour by Dayabhai Patel of Bombay was an additional attraction for the film. The film was a major hit mainly because of its fulllength situational comedy, rare back then in Indian cinema and more so in Tamil. Film historian Randor Guy praised the film for The comedy and the excellent performances by the actors.
